Edward Latawiec age 91 of Linden passed away Saturday August 16, 2014 at his home. Born in Elizabeth, he had resided in Linden all of his life. During World War II Edward proudly serviced his country in the United States Navy in the 6th Special Naval Construction Battalion “SEABEES” in the Pacific Theater of Operation. Before his retirement he was employed as a tool and die maker for Singer Sewing Machine in Elizabeth where he worked for over 45 years. Edward was an avid gardener, who enjoyed especially growing his tomatoes, which he loved to give to his family and friends to enjoy, was an avid golfer, and was a life long communicant of Saint Elizabeth R. C. Church in Linden.

Edward is predeceased by his wife Dorothy Ristau Latawiec in 1999. Surviving are his daughter Pastor Nancy Nardi and her husband Michael of North Plainfield, his grandchildren Christopher and Regina Nardi, his siblings Henry, Walter and Helen and his sister in laws Veronica, Margie, Irene and Alfreida.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10am at Saint Elizabeth R. C. Church in Linden with burial to follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Lehrer Gibilisco Funeral Home 275 W Milton Ave, Rahway, NJ 07065. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be sent to Saint Elizabeth R. C. Church 220 Blanke Street, Linden N.J. 07036 or Linden Meals on Wheels 1025 Pennsylvania Avenue, Linden N.J. 07036 Letters of condolence, and completed arrangements can be found at www.spezzifuneralhome.com
