Obituary for Phyllis Drohan

Phyllis   Drohan
Phyllis Emmanuele Drohan age 73 of Parlin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 21, 2018, at her home with loving family at her side. Born on Staten Island she had been a Sayreville resident for most of her life. Phyllis will be remembered fondly for her love of music; especially her love of Sting and Jazz. She was passionate about Broadway Theater and the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick where she volunteered her time. She spent countless hours volunteering at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) where she volunteered in their library, participated in Support Groups and attended meetings and Survivor Days for those battling Breast Cancer.

Phyllis was a life-long activist involved in Amnesty International, Planned Parenthood, Campaigning for candidates she believed in and working for change for the many issues she deeply cared about.

Phyllis and her husband Don loved to travel and experience new places, cultures, foods and sights. They were fortunate to take many trips together and often brought their children and grandchildren along as well.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald Drohan; her daughter Lori Drohan, her son Greg Drohan and his wife Layla Taylor, her grandchildren Desiree Drohan-Godwin, Gianina Drohan and Kai Drohan, her siblings and their spouses Marilyn and Raymond Dowd and Joseph and Sherrie Emmanuele as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Calling hours at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin, will be held Friday from 4pm to 8pm.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 11am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home.
