South River
Richard J. Jones, age 94 of South River, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at J.F.K. Medical Center, Edison. Born in Atlantic City he lived in Mantoloking and Howell before moving to South River in 2007. Before his retirement he was employed as a bus driver for Asbury Park/ New York Transit and was a member of Teamsters Local 701 in North Brunswick. Mr. Jones was a U.S. Air force veteran of World War II and Korea. An ordained Baptist Minister, Richard received his BA in Theology from King’s Collage in Briarcliff, New York and served in several churches including Sayrewood Baptist Church in Old Bridge.
He is predeceased by his first wife Sara Ruth Miller Jones, his second wife Vivian F. Sarambo Myers Jones and his parents Abram J. and Kathryn S. Jones. Surviving are his children and their spouses James C & Debra Jones of South River and Elizabeth & David Wilson of Jackson and two grandchildren
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:30am at the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River with burial to follow at Old Tennant Cemetery, Tennant, N.J.
