John M. “Jake” Zollinger, age 78, peacefully passed away on Thursday March 8, 2018 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy with his loving family at his side. Born and raised in Sayreville, he was a lifelong resident of the borough. Mr. Zollinger proudly enlisted in the US Marine Corps, having served in the Korean War as a Corporal. He later founded his own contracting company in Sayreville - John Zollinger & Son Contracting – and also worked as a building inspector with the Borough of Sayreville. In his spare time, Jake made birdhouses, loved to read and was an avid sports fan, never missing a game on TV. He was also a great builder of homes, erecting his last home for his daughter in 2006. Jake and his always noticeable van will be deeply missed throughout our borough.
Jake is predeceased by his beloved wife Norma Zollinger, his parents John A. & Mary Zollinger, and his sister Diane Ross in 2011. Surviving are his 3 loving children Candace Zollinger Hyslop of Sayreville, Dawn E. Zollinger Doring of Sayreville, and John J.
