Condolence: I'm so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Rob for the last year and a half or so. We never got to meet in person as I'm located in Kansas City. What I can share with you is no matter why I reached out to Rob with he was always there. He had some jokes I'll tell you what. I will miss Rob very much. May God wrap you in his arms.

Condolence: I am so sorry. My prayers go out to the DeChiara Family. Rob was a great friend. He always had my back. He was a great Chef who made culinary masterpieces. He loved great music. We saw a lot of great concerts together. He especially loved The Eagles. Lot's of times we spent drinking Budweiser out of cans, cranking tunes, and talking about life and gals. :) I miss him so much.

Condolence From: Melissa & Phil
Condolence: I still can't wrap my head around this. We always think there will be more time, we always assume we'll see all of our friends again "as soon as we have more time"... we hadn't seen Rob recently, but he will be sorely missed. His laugh, his culinary skills, his wit, his friendship, will never be forgotten. To Vinnie and his family: we can't imagine what you all must be going through. Our thoughts and love are with you all, and we WILL see you soon. Xoxoxo Phil and Melissa

Condolence From: Tony Vella Sr.
Condolence: I was extremely shocked, surprised, and saddened by the loss of "Deech". He was like a brother to my son Tony and I felt that he was an extended member of my family. I especially enjoyed working with him when he helped out my son with his electrical business. Whenever my son needed Rob, he was always there for him. There are not too many friends in this world like Rob. The Vella family wifi treasure his memory always and miss him dearly.

Condolence From: Paul D Bird-Prisco
Condolence: Never. I never spent enough time with you, never paid enough attention to you, never let you know how much I respected you or cared about you. I'll never forget you Rob. You were a caring and supportive brother. As I sit here sniffelung; I recall when you took me aside to discuss my sinus issue - you thought I had a cocaine problem. That couldn't have been farther from the truth but the fact that you were willing to cross that line was typical of how much you cared about your brothers. I'm honored have had you in my life Rob. You were always a good man. Thank you. Rest In Peace my brother...

Condolence: Rob…. What can I say??? How did this happen? Why did this happen? I’m Shocked, Mad, Upset, and Confused…. It has taken me a while to try and process this much less sit down to write something to let friends know of Robs passing. I’ve know Rob for almost 30 years and we had worked together for the better part of 7 of those years… Rob was there for me when I started my business and for a long time afterwards. I owe Rob a lot. Rob was not perfect, I’m far from it, no one is, and he drove me nuts at times and I’m sure I did the same to him, but I tell you what Rob was, he was a hardworking, trustful, loyal friend who always had MY best interests at heart and always had my back. Yeah he would make sure I knew it was time to order lunch 3 or 4 times a day on a job, or ask hour by hour, how much longer we were going to work that day, but I never had to worry about something getting done or it getting done right. He would always go above and beyond for me day in and day out. Rob’s thing in life was to please, he was happy making others happy. We had a lot of adventures working together from Maine to Florida all those years and he always tried to make it fun and interesting. Even after he went onto the computer/IT field he would work with us on weekends or whenever he was available, Rob was not a lazy guy and kept very active. He was very proud of his recent weight loss and quitting smoking and proud member of Nu Sigma Phi. I created a monster when Rob started fishing with me and we had some good years together on my old boat “Little Jeanne”, Rob was a top rate first mate, always eager to learn, work, clean, bring food/beer and bait, whatever was needed. He was on a few crews of mine that won a couple tournaments. He was a regular on njfishing.com for years as Rumrunner and became a competent fisherman in his own rite. I remember when I bought him his first good rod/reel combo and you would have thought I gave him the Holy Grail….lol…He loved it and treated it like gold. He would go out on the local party boats by himself when I hung up the keys to Little Jeanne, nothing could stop him from getting out on the water fishing or crabbing. I’d love the texts from him with a bucket of crabs asking me if I wanted him to drop some off on his way home. He often spoke about getting a boat himself and was excited when he got his ford explorer so he could come borrow a small boat of mine. He loved music and knew everyone, and every band, and every album, song, artist…. You get the idea… He was the perfect music phone a friend for music trivia, we were on a job up in New England once and one evening we were in a local bar/restaurant where the DJ was doing trivia for prizes, Rob was answering every question and having other people form the bar people go up for prizes, because he won everything. It was priceless. He was a huge sports fan who could talk and play them all…. But, who knows what Rob loved and cared about the most???????? His Family….. His Parents, Brother and Sister and Niece, aunts, uncles, cousins….. That’s what was important to Rob, he would light up telling me about plans with them for birthdays, holidays, school plays, whatever, It didn’t matter as long as he was with family….. Rob had thick skin, he could take it as well as he could give it, and we all joked around with Rob about his being “Stature Challenged”, maybe so, but he was a 10’ tall giant of a friend, who would do anything for you, give you the shirt off his back, and who only wished the best for everyone…. You’ll be sorely missing my co-worker, friend, fishing buddy, my brother….

Condolence: My sincere condolences to the De Chiara family. Rob was a great friend growing up on Haven Terrace. The kids that I grew up with were family. Sports dominated our lives, and Rob, although younger than us by 3 years, excelled in our football and baseball games. Although I haven't seen him in over 30 years, I lived vicariously through him with his fishing and crabbing posts on Facebook. I will miss him, and I will make it a point to go back to New Jersey and take my now-grown children crabbing to experience that thrill. RIP, Rob!
