Hope A. Gergits, age 59 of South Amboy passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy with her loving family at her side. Born in New Brunswick, Hope lived in South Amboy for most of her life. She was known best for her time spent working at the Peter Pank Diner as a hostess, waitress, bouncer, and general caretaker of many during numerous late nights. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Hope is predeceased by her parents Charles Carow & Elizabeth VanDyke and her sister Colleen Crawford. Surviving is her beloved husband of 36 years Greg Gergits of South Amboy; her daughters Ashley & husband Colin Gergits of Plainsboro and Jacqueline Gergits of NY; her dear granddaughter who she raised as a daughter, Patrisha Gergits of South Amboy; 4 loving grandchildren CJ of Woodbridge, and Amanda, Gregory & Izick all of NY; her 6 siblings Joyce Cahill of South River, Charlie & wife Judy Carow of Metuchen, Gail Legrou of Old Bridge, Jo Myer of Spotswood, James Robertson & wife Sandy of East Brunswick, and John Robertson & wife Norma of Jackson; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 17 from 5pm to 9pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with prayer services at 7:30pm.
