Josephine De Vito age 91 of Toms River passed away Tuesday November 28, 2017 at her home. Born in Newark she had resided in the Parlin section of Sayreville then in Pennsylvania before moving to Brick & Toms River in 1999.

Josephine is best known for her beautiful crafts, crocheting, her spunky attitude and her amazing spirit of giving. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and spoiling her grand and great-grand children.

Before her retirement in 1999 she was employed as a baker for Dutch’s Market in Newfoundland, PA where she worked for 6 years. Prior to that she was employed as a waitress for Howard Johnsons and a supervisor for Fedders Air Condition Company.

She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years William De Vito in 2009, her parents Federico and Adelaide DeJennaro and her sister Marie Ginelli. Surviving are her children and their spouses William De Vito Jr., Carol & Lawrence Palmer, David & Nancy De Vito, and Kimberly & Timothy Spewak, her grandchildren David, Barbara, Bryan, Nicole and Derek, her great-grandchildren Emily, Matthew, David, Eoin, Luke and Margaret and her sister Esther D’Angelo

Funeral services will be held Sunday 5pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin. A private burial will take place on Wednesday at N.J. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, N.J.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday from 2pm to 6pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Josephine's name to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
