Barnaget
Edward J. Bottomly, age 76, formerly of Sayreville, passed away Friday October 6, 2017, at Southern Ocean Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bayonne, he had lived in Sayreville, before moving to Barnegat 20 years ago. Edward retired as the Deputy Chief of the Rutgers Police Department where he proudly worked for 25 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, NECUSA and the Sayreville Knights of Columbus Council 2061.
He is predeceased by his father Henry, his mother Genevieve, his step-mother Catherine, and his son Kevin.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy, his sons Bryan, Robert and his wife Erin, his grandchildren Ashley, Taylor, Caitlyn, Allyson, Arielle, and Matthew, his siblings John and his wife Kathleen, Judy Burns, Virginia Lanzolotti, Christina Banasiak and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 8:30am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin with a 9am mass at Sacred Heart RC Church. Burial will follow at St. Stan’s Cemetery in Sayreville.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4pm to 8pm.
