Matawan
John J. Ambrosino, age 83 of Matawan passed away peacefully on Monday, August 28th 2017 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY he had resided in Matawan for the past 25 years. Before his retirement he was employed in Brooklyn as a Longshoreman for 38 years. John was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a former Light Middle Weight Champ in Ft. Eustis, VA, was the head ice hockey coach at St Francis College in Queens, NY, he coached baseball and was an avid sports fan.

He is predeceased by his parents John and Marie, his wife Frances on April 3rd 2017 and his siblings Patrick, Joey and Audrey. Surviving are his children Debra Cappiccille, John Ambrosino, Patricia Ambrosino, Harry Ambrosino, Josephine Perez, Frances Lawrence, Marie Palomo and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his siblings Dorothy Beneduce and Joseph Ambrosino, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 10am Friday at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with an Entombment to follow at Holmdel Cemetery in Holmdel.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4pm to 8pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in John’s name to St Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place
