Rita “Jackie” O’Leary, age 82 of Parlin, passed away Thursday April 21, 2016 in Perth Amboy, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Newark, she had lived in Parlin for the past 56 years. Before her retirement, Jackie worked for Bell Telephone in Basking Ridge. She was a communicant of St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin, where she was a member of their Altar Rosary Society and the St. Bernadette’s Seniors. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Sayreville Thursday Club where she was a Chaplin.
She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Rose Michel.
Surviving are her loving husband of 57 years, Thomas, her beloved children Jacqueline and her husband William Harrison, Thomas and his wife Jeanne, Francis and his wife Leigh, Kathleen, Daniel and his wife Michelle, her cherished grandchildren Danielle, Chelsea, Thomas, Ryan, Shannon, Shanna, Elizabeth, Stephen, Allison, Jack, Ian, her adored great-granddaughter Gwendolyn, and her brother Roger Michel and his wife Alice.
Funeral services will be Monday 8:30am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin with a 9:15am funeral mass at St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2pm to 6pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Bernadette’s Renovation Fund 20 Villanova Road, Parlin NJ 08859.
