Obituary for John "Pal" Unkel
Sayreville
John "Pal" Unkel, age 85, of Sayreville passed away Saturday August 22nd peacefully in his home. Born in South River he had resided in Sayreville for over 80 years. Before his retirement John was employed by Hercules Inc in Parlin as a Plant Shift superintendent. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean war.
He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary, as well as his sister Gladys. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Anna Kolakowski, his sisters Marie and Tremaine, his children and their spouses, Gary and Linda, Glenn and Sue, Scott and Donna, and his daughter Sandra. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 9am Thursday from the Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main St., Sayreville with a 9:30am Mass at Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery in Parlin.
